Four University of Port Harcourt students named Ugonna, Ilyod, Tekana and Chidiaka were reportedly beaten to death by indegenes of Aluu community for allegedly stealing phones and laptops in an off campus hostel.
Instead of involving the police, the students were beaten and lynched. The scene was photographed and filmed and these spread around and shared.
Tribune reports that although there was no report of a robbery incident in the area, the witnesses said the vigilante claimed the boys were pounced on because they acted suspiciously.
What is happening in Nigeria?
Why is “jungle justice” the first response in situations like this?

This morning, four students from the University of Port Harcourt named Ugonna, Aladdin ,Chidiaka and a friend were badly beaten and burnt alive by indegenes of Aluu community for allegedly stealing phones and laptops in an off campus hostel…
They joyfully took laws into their hands, Instead of calling the police and getting them arrested, by putting tyres over the heads of these students who were not armed and burnt them. Then they took pictures, filmed it and spread it around. This happened today in Port Harcourt. Reports have it that, these boys were all in their early 20s..
And the most annoying part is that i can see a few women in the group of men, watching this barbaric act done by heartless men!
I am not justifying the fact that what the boys did was right but the inhumane treatment outweighs the offence… There are people out ther who have done worse things like burning their wives with fire or hot water, raped a child to death and dumped their bodies in a drainage system, boys gang raped a girl and nothing was done… They probably are on the streets living their lives, maybe looking for their next victim…
why kill these boys in this way????? I sigh in anger..!
